CHEN Lin was graduated from the Architecture Department of the China Academy of Art, where he learned from Professor Wang Shu. During his studies, he worked in the amateur architectural studio of his mentor. After graduation in 2014, he started his career in the Greentown GOA Design Institute, worked there for one year and then established Shulin Architectual Design. As a founding architect, he began to work independently on projects and architectural studies. He focused on renovation projects, especially those in the countryside. The office started with small projects focusing on rural construction, typology, with the respect for authenticity and locality of construction. He also studied the relationship between the nature and architecture, people and the environment, and the new and the old, and has been exploring new areas of architecture in constant practice. It is his belief that with constant reflection comes epiphany and with insistence on the initial goal comes the ultimate success.
