A formerly garage space in Amsterdam’s area de Pijp, turned into a spacious house naturally lit by large roof lights. The interior with a generous 230m2 on one floor level is finished in a simple material palette. The repetition of rectangular rough oak wooden surfaces is in great contrast with the stark white walls, black surfaces and grey cast flooring.

Youth Centre, in Amsterdam

Atelier Kempe Thill
In 2005, Atelier Kempe Thill won an invited competition to construct within such an area of the „Reimerswaalbuurt“ a small youth- and neighbourhood centre. The task was to integrate the small building as carefully as possible in the existing tree population, to keep enough distance to the adjacent building blocks and to design a monumental, polydirectional and well visible free-standing building.

M3H architecten
The design for 91 dwellings on the site of the former Kennemer Hospital is located in close proximity to the center of IJmuiden. The existing park nearby has been refurbished and extended. Besides a new residential care complex the urban plan consists mostly of single-family homes. The allotment proposal by M3H is connected to the new residential care complex as well as to the existing surrounding neighborhoods.

Wooden houses, in Amsterdam

For the past decade, Wenslauer Street in the Bellamy neighbourhood of Amsterdam has been undergoing a metamorphosis. In collaboration with the city council, the Stadgenoot housing corporation and various individuals, architects and small developers, a dozen dwellings have been renovated, and more than ten old houses have been demolished and replaced by new buildings.
