Autor: draftworks* architects

draftworks*architects was founded in London in 2006 by Christiana Ioannou and Christos Papastergiou and currently operates in Nicosia and Athens. The studio borrows its name from the word draft*, which means both the first attempt* of a creative process and the noble task of drawing*. It consists of architects who have a keen interest in attempting* new projects and talking through drawings*. The * is used for emphasis and demarcation but also as  reference mark: Architecture for us is also an occasion to refer to something else, always linked to worlds beyond it’s own.

The studio has been awarded prizes in various local and international competitions: Among them the 1st prize and the commission to build the Aliki ‘Centre for Environmental Education’ at the salt lake at Larnaca, Cyprus. Our project ‘New Zidonians’, selected by Herman Hertzberger and William Mitchell among others, has been awarded an Honorable Mention at the MIT ‘Just Jerusalem competition’ and the project ‘Paper Machines II and the Roofless Garden’ selected by Peter Cook has been exhibited at the 11th Venice Biennale in 2008 as part of the Cyprus Pavilion.
