21st Biennial of Industrial Design open till 2 November 2008

The 21st Biennial of Industrial Design (BIO 21) was open on 2 October 2008 at the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana. This is a major comparative international exhibition of industrial design, visual communications, and design concepts. The exhibition will be on display to 2 November 2008, in exhibition halls at Fužine Castle that measure approximately 1,000 m². BIO 21 will include works from 18 countries: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, the UK, and the US. more >>

Creative workshop: Designing Useful Objects with an Emphasis on Recycling Materials
Friday, 24 October 2008, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday, 25 October 2008, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Atelje 2050 – School for Creativity, Breg 12, Ljubljana
At these two workshops, the first of which is intended for preteens and young teens ages 11 to 15, the second for children (ages 7 to 10), participants will learn about the professions of industrial designer, graphic designer and photographer.

The architect and designer Ettore Sottsass ranked among Italy’s greatest designers. He became famous in the early 1970s with a series of original achievements in design, from professional office equipment to small, attractive typewriters aimed primarily at the general (and especially the younger) population. more >>

Exhibition: Verner Panton

Architect Verner Panton was one of the most innovative figures in 20th-century design and architecture. He was the master of a fluid, futuristic style that introduced the Pop Art aesthetic to the design of furniture and interiors. This exhibition presents an overview of Panton’s collaboration with the Swiss furniture manufacturer Vitra. more >>
