Casa mariposa, en Corea del Sur

Esta idea ha sido el punto de partida para el diseño de un «sistema de casa» en la que el respeto por la tradición de la vivienda local (profundamente vinculada con la naturaleza), la asequibilidad, el ahorro de energía y la integración con el entorno se mezclan, siguiendo los principios del feng shui. La casa se conforma con dos unidades, una para una familia y otra para los abuelos, y su forma se define por grandes terrazas panorámicas con la forma de las alas de una mariposa, abiertas a través del paisaje.

La sostenibilidad, la accesibilidad y la relación visual con el paisaje circundante son los objetivos principales de este proyecto, desarrollado a través de soluciones tecnológicas locales económicas: ventilación natural, alto aislamiento, grandes ventanas y terrazas en forma de alas de mariposa. Estos elementos caracterizan no sólo la figura articulada de la construcción, definen las masas, los huecos, las traslaciones y las rotaciones, sino que también se convierten en sistemas pasivos capaces de optimizar la radiación solar, con colectores de viento capaces de atrapar las brisas del verano. Durante el invierno, las terrazas funcionan como barreras contra los vientos fríos protegiendo la casa de la intemperie. La orientación del edificio sigue razones climáticas y funcionales, optimizando la ventilación natural y la entrada de la luz del sol al interior de la casa durante el año.

Luca Donner es Profesor Adjunto de Arquitectura y Diseño Urbano de la Universidad de Padova y anteriormente fue profesor en las Universidades de Ferrara, Udine y Brescia. Ha dado conferencias en varias universidades italianas y extranjeras, tales como Congresos Internacionales. Francesca Sorcinelli es Profesora Asistente de Proyectos Arquitectónicos y Urbanismo de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Udine.

The butterfly house is located near green hills, in the country of Gapyeong (50 km north east from Seoul), which cultural and environmental context has deeply influenced the concept of the building. A building is considered sustainable according to how well it integrates with the natural elements of the surrounding landscape and with the habits of its inhabitants. This thought has been the springboard for designing a ‘house system’ in which the respect for local housing tradition (deeply linked to nature), affordability, the energy saving features of the building and the integration with the surrounding environment well blend together, following the principles of feng shui.

The house is based on two units, one for a family, the other for grandparents, and his figure is defined by large panoramic terraces, shaped like the wings of a butterfly, open through the landscape. Sustainability, affordability and the visual relation with the surrounding landscape are the main focuses of the project, developed through local cheap technological solutions, natural ventilation, high insulation and large windows and terraces shaped like the wings of a butterfly. These elements characterize not only the articulated figure of the building, defining masses, voids, translations and rotations, but also becoming passive systems able to optimize solar radiation and wind collectors able to catch summer breezes too. During winter, terraces work as barriers versus cold winds, protecting the house from bad weather. Building orientation follows climatic and functional reasons: optimization of natural ventilation and sunshine inside the apartments during the year.

Luca Donner is Adjunct Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at University of Padova and previously taught at Universities of Ferrara, Udine and Brescia. Francesca Sorcinelli is Assistant Professor of Architectural and Urban Design at the University of Udine, Faculty of Architecture.
