Manfred Alois Mayr, born in 1952, lives in Merano, Italy.

Between 1972 and 1977 he studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria.

From 1977 to 1981 he holds a university teaching position at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

1991 on work stay in Spain and 1995 / 2000 on work stay in Berlin, Germany.

Since 2006 he runs his atelier in Bolzano, Italy.

Manfred Alois Mayr works in the field of tension between fine art and architecture. The artist broaches the issue of (colour-) spaces between surface and construct, analyses the existence of colours and material body formally, geographically, sociologically and historically. He collects and archives in a photographic – encyclopaedically way anonymous coats of paints and building processes.

He realized numerous art interventions on public and private buildings.
