Span Designed Exhibition: Opens in Venice, Italy
The SPAN designed exhibition "Housing in Vienna" opens at the Palazzo Ca'Tron, IUAV, Venice, Italy.
Manifold Tessellations
«The Tessellation gave us the chance to aggregate the repetitive component in multiplicious ways, to adapt to different exhibition environments without compromising the allover appearance of the design. The Cairo Tessellation, known in mathematics also as example of equilateral Pentagons that tile the plane, allow for a high variety of the topology of the plane. The Cairo pods yielded opportunities within the aggregation of repetitive objects that imply the creation of heterogeneous figurations. The pods purpose is to serve as exhibition vitrine in varying spaces.» (SPAN)
Exhibition design commissioned by the Az W (Architecture Center Vienna) for the exhibition Housing in Vienna, traveling exhibition.
SPAN: Vienna based Architecture Firm SPAN, headed by Matias del Campo and Sandra Manninger, is driven by a compulsive desire to speculate about architectural opportunities in the presence of animated matter, organic entities and their underlying geometrical and mathematical presence. Their award winning architecture designs are informed by a manifold variety of sources reaching from Science Fiction and Fashion to Biology and Botany. The multiplicious inspirations are fused into projects applying the most advanced digital design tools and casted into form by computer controlled machinery. Their activities include Architecture Design, exhibitions and lectures as well as teaching in various countries and institutions, such as the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Bauhaus Dessau and the ESARQ in Barcelona.
