Kahoku es una ciudad rodeada por la naturaleza. El lugar que he elegido para instalar este proyecto de arte es un espacio abierto al público que sugiere un nuevo método de intercambio entre las personas y la naturaleza. Para ello utilicé la forma distintiva de los arrozales en antiguas terrazas.
Las obras de arte actúan también como lentes a través de los cuales la gente puede capturar el paisaje como telón de fondo y disfrutar de ellas, ya que se colocan libremente en la tierra para utilizarlas como uno quiera.
Kahoku town is surrounded by rich nature. The land that I used as my art project is a public open space where people can experience and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. By creating my artwork on the land, I suggest a new method of exchange between people and nature.
I placed my artwork on this land to utilize the distinctive shape of the former terraced rice paddies. My art works are made of wooden frames and each frame gives a certain volume to the arrangement. My art also act as lenses through which people can capture the landscape and as a background, it sets off the verdure. People can enjoy my art by walking through them. My art works are placed on the land freely and it is possible for people to use them as they want.
Japanese cedars called “Aya Sugi” are used for my art pieces. I used the croppings of old, used and excess cedar trees that are produced in this town. I intentionally made the surface of the materials smooth so that the natural appearance of the wood produced various shadows. All the wooden frames themselves exist as a part of the scenery in the valley.
The main points of this art project are as follows:
– The land where my art works are placed had to be public open space.
– The land had to formerly terraced rice paddies.
– The materials for my artwork had to be croppings of old, used and excess cedar trees.
