First edition of Next Landmark contest, in Venice

Closes with great success the first edition of Next Landmark the international contest dedicated to graduates of the new Millennium organized by architecture and design portal Floornature.

A stake went far beyond expectations, with 292 projects from all parts of the world and many quality proposals that attest that the young international architectural panorama scene is in turmoil. An important result for the contest, conceived by Floornature with the goal of offering new talent the well-earned international visibility, which allowed the portal to explore the young creativity to publish the most interesting projects. The 2 winning projects and the 4 mentioned, besides a selection of 40 best proposals, have been the protagonists of the Blue Party, the Next Landmark event which took place in Venice on the August 28th, in the marvelous framework of the XIII Biennale of architecture.

The competition, open to graduates of designers after 2000, had two categories: first work dedicated to his work and research to reward unrealized projects, ideas, reflections and thesis. The winning projects from the international jury, 1 winner and 2 mentioned for each category, very heterogeneous among them by language and geographical origin, have been able to interpret in an original way the contest guidelines through researches and achievements that combined with innovative use of materials and construction techniques, the originality and the attention to sustainability. The international jury composed by important names such as Frits Van Dongen of studio de Architekten CIE., Nicola Leonardi Director of The Plan, Luca Molinari, Gianluca Peluffo study 5 + 1AA, Mariano Diotto IUSVE, Graziano Verdi Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GranitiFiandre & Iris Group, and Paolo Schianchi Floornature.com editorial Manager, after a careful analysis of the 40 finalist projects selected by the editorial staff of Floornature decreed the following winners:

To provide an opportunity for international visibility Floornature launched a «social» prize: starting from July16th, in fact, registered users, assigning a portal “like”, gave a chance for another designer to be exposed in the evening awards event. The 40 best entries, selected by the international jury, have been rated on the site contest.floornature.com and on the portal of architecture, design and project culture www.floornature.com. The intervention of the President of Floornature Graziano Verdi has inaugurated the awarding ceremony of the first edition of NEXT LANDMARK. On August 28th winners and mentioned have been protagonists together with the jurors’ contest, of a talk show in the picturesque setting of a Deconsecrated Church in the heart of Venice, a stone’s throw from the gardens of the Biennale.
