Las casas de este barrio en Winterthur, Suiza, hacen referencia a la pasada era industrial, formando un complejo residencial de villas. La nueva construcción ocupa la esquina de la parcela, dejando el lugar prominente al antiguo barrio y adicionando una nueva interpretación contextual a la secuencia existente. Tres apartamentos se organizan en la delgada manzana triangular. La forma triangular permite mantener el jardín existente libre de construcciones.
To densify a lot with an additional building is not an uncommon operation. It goes back to the rules of heritage, to organize further buildings on a site in order to accommodate the families’ need of increased spatial demands.
The houses in the site’s quarter refer to the former industrial age, forming a housing compound with villas, prominently placed and sequentially perceivable. The new house occupies the corner of the lot, leaving the prominent placing of the old villa and adding a new contextual interpretation to the existing sequence. The triangular form allows for keeping the existing garden free of any constructions. Three apartments are organized within the slender, triangular block. The form of the building renders entirely different impressions regarding size and form. Though very contextually thought out, the building remains a stranger among the old villas.
