DDM House, Sèvres 92, France
Situated on one of the last available plots in the "Hauts de Sèvres" department, this house enjoys a truly exceptional site. The steep slope suggested a project that would unfold over three floors, all facing south, each with its own distinct universe.
The garden level provides the living spaces, seamlessly connecting to an outdoor cantilevering deck. The narrower, more private spaces at street level are the children’s domain, while the top floor, with its spectacular views, is the parents retreat. The three floors are drawn together by a sun-filled atrium, bringing light and natural ventilation deep into the building while creating a playful interrelationship of views.
As the building could be seen as having grown out of the site, it comes as no surprise that there is nothing «house-like» about its exterior: camouflage netting below a windowless aluminium prism and a stainless steel mesh draping down its southern facade. A dematerialised volume melting into its environment.
