5+1 AA Alfonso Femia Gianluca Peluffo: eventos en el Mediterráneo

5+1AA Alfonso Femia Gianluca Peluffo architectural studio opens the fall season with a series of events and meetings that have as main theme the strong link with the Mediterranean, its history and territories. Starting from Istanbul, they pass through Algiers, and meet in Frankfurt. And after a stop in Marseille, the final landing is in Milan.

In the first edition of the Istanbul Design Biennial, Edition Zero presents Zero Istanbul Design Guide, a special edition dedicated to the fifty places that have changed the face of the city from the ’80s to today. 5 +1 AA Alfonso Femia Gianluca Peluffo studio, along with other main figures of the design world- such as Zaha Hadid, Giulio Iacchetti, Marti Guixé- has created a drawing depicting their vision of the city as the first cover of the guide.

Their approach towards the Turkish capital is quite recent; here the architects from Genoa – in collaboration with the Galata office of Istanbul – were invited in 2012 to design the construction of a new logistics area in close proximity to Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Moreover, also in 2012, the firm was invited to develop a preliminary design of a new conference area in the town of Sile situated on the Black Sea shore.

In Algeria, the architects Alfonso Femia Gianluca Peluffo are guests of the conference organized by the Italian Embassy in Algiers, in collaboration with Ecosphere, as part of the series of conferences dedicated to the planning and management of cities: Qualité de La Ville, Qualitè de la Vie. The conference, having them as guest speakers, is named La Magie du Réel, in which the architects are asked to share their reflections on the quality of the of urban space’s architecture.

Their projects that boost the value of Mediterranean – examples like the upgrading of ground floor spaces and caves of the Docks de Marseille, a Palermo Two masterplan and the redevelopment of the Tangier Waterfront – reflect extremely well these topics . It has been known for some weeks now, that the execution phase of the project of the Docks in Marseille has officially started.

On the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair, 5+1AA Alfonso Femia Gianluca Peluffo studio present OGR, Officine Grandi Repairs Turin: the last book published by Marsilio, dedicated to one of their most recent projects. The Officine Grandi Repairs (O.G.R.) is an industrial complex of great historical and architectural importance in Turin. The project, completed in occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, has focused on the design of exterior and interior common areas, split in three places – two exterior and one interior – illustrating the three feelings of Wonder, Body and Generosity. In accordance to this, the three volumes of the book: one red, one white and one green, illustrated by the photos of Ernesta Caviola and accompanied by a narrative written part of Luca Cerizza.

And finally, at the Milan Triennial, opening the October 30 with the exhibition of 5earths +1 form of 5+1AA Alfonso Femia Gianluca Peluffo studio. The theme of the exhibition talks about the use of the applied arts in architecture: illustrated by their projects’ models in Albisola pottery by Master Danilo Trogu. The maximum projection of their design approach, based on dialogue, is found in the meaning of each of the models on display for this occasion. The exhibition also includes the new headquarters of the Italian Space Agency, the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice and Horizontal Tower (Fiera Milano).
