Nikolaus Hirsch / Michel Müller is a Frankfurt-based office for architecture. Their work on institutional models resulted in realized projects such as the Bockenheimer Depot Theater (with William Forsythe), Unitednationsplaza in Berlin (with Anton Vidokle), Cybermohalla Hub in Delhi, Do We Dream Under The Same Sky (Art Basel, 2015) and currently the studio residency at The Land (Thailand). They developed numerous exhibition architectures such as ‘Making Things Public’ at the ZKM (curated by Bruno Latour and Peter Weibel, 2005) and ‘Indian Highway’ (Serpentine Gallery, 2008). Their work has been widely exhibited, among others at Kunstmuseum Bern (2007), Manifesta 7 (2008), Swedish Architecture Museum (2008), Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Copenhagen (2011), Istanbul Design Biennale (2012), Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel (2014), Insert at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi (2014), Art Basel (2015), and the Chicago Architecture Biennial (2015).

Nikolaus Hirsch
Nikolaus Hirsch is a Frankfurt-based architect, educator and curator. He was the director of Städelschule and Portikus in Frankfurt (2010-2013) and previously taught at the Architectural Association in London, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (2005/06), and at the Institute of Applied Theater Studies at Giessen University. His architectural work includes the award-winning Dresden Synagogue (2001) and Hinzert Document Center (2006). Hirsch curated “Ersatzstadt” at Volksbühne Berlin (2005), “Cultural Agencies” (Istanbul, 2009/10), numerous exhibitions at the Portikus, the Folly project for the Gwangju Biennale (2013/14), Real DMZ in Korea (2014), and “Housing Question/Wohnungsfrage” at the HKW in Berlin (2015). Hirsch is the author of the books “On Boundaries” (2007), “Track 17” (2009), “Institution Building” (2009), “Folly” (2013), and co-editor of the Critical Spatial Practice series at Sternberg Press, and the e-flux project “Superhumanity” for the Istanbul Design Biennial 2016.

Michel Müller
Michel Müller is an architect based in Darmstadt, Germany.  He received his Diploma of Architecture degree from the University of Darmstadt where he was an assistant professor from 1996 until 2001. He has been guest professor at the at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe (2004) and worked as a scientific fellow at the ZIT research project experimental fields for sustainable architecture in Darmstadt (2001-2004). In 2004 he earned his doctorate with a dissertation on planning methods of adaptable architecture from the University of Darmstadt. From 2005 until 2010 he was professor and director of the Studio for Sustainable Architecture at the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart. Since 2010 he is professor and director of the Laboratory for Experimental Architecture, Art and Research at the University of Technology, Arts and Sciences. His work includes the Power Station Darmstadt, and the Machine Hall Darmstadt.
