Founded in 2012, 3andwich Design / He Wei Studio is an architectural design firm with supports from authoritative academic institutions including Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, and China Architectural Society. We engage in interdisciplinary research and practice including urban renewal, architectural and interior design, exhibition and curatorial, lighting and art. Our design concept emphasizes humanism, dialogue between the history and the contemporary, and interaction between natural environment and regional culture. We are expert in cross-border thinking and research-based design. For many years,the studio has also been being dedicated to rural architectural design especially in undeveloped areas of China, and has been employing the methodology of micro intervene, which is widely used in typological study that has allowed the revival of rural villages and communities.

In the era of media communication, 3andwich Design strives to create a “pan-design service”, which is based on architectural design, continues to break the existing boundaries, and seeks interactions between architectural design and designs of other disciplinary, including planning, lighting, research and development of tourism derivative products, public art and events, product design, and so on. The studio pays attention to the preliminary planning, construction on site, and the linkage between management after design phrase and media communication, and regards these sections as an interrelated whole. 3andwich Design believes that architectural design should go beyond self-determination, embrace relevant disciplines, and explore ways to integrate them. In this process of opening, exiting, accepting, and integrating, the “pan-design service” may be the key to a new world.
