Morimondo 23, in Milan

In the ex industrial area “Fluid-o-tech”, 10.000 square meters enclosed in a refined architectural casket host the new center of Milan fashion designed by architect Giuseppe Tortato. An ensemble of buildings, all different, but united by a common architectural expression and a careful choice of materials, develops around unpredictable courtyards and patios.

Papabubble, art-candy-store, in Tokyo

We performed the interior design for papabubble, a Spanish candy artisan, which opened a small art-candy-store on a tiny 10m2 lot inside the concourse of the JR Shinjuku station. The inside of a station, with a high traffic volume, colorful signs and rows of stores lined up on a tiny strip of real estate, etc., is a peculiar environment in which we were tasked to create a store that would not only stand out, but also allow the brand image to be easily recognizable.

House in Yamakawa, Japan

This home sits on a road that gets a surprising amount of traffic given how narrow it is. To minimize the noise from cars and to ensure privacy, the architects concentrated storage spaces along the side of the house facing the road and added a hallway as a further buffer shielding the main rooms. In contrast, large windows open from each room onto the spacious back garden, giving many different views of the cherry blossom trees, expansive paddy landscape, and mountain range beyond. Bent in a V-shape to follow the curve of the road, the house echoes the form of the distant mountains.

House in Kamoshima, Japan

With its simple arced shape echoing the shape of the property and its charred cedar exterior similar to that found throughout the neighborhood, this residence blends seamlessly into its surroundings of peaceful rice fields, temples, and shrines. The kitchen sits in the very center of the home with a clear view of the living room, tatami space, and, across the courtyard, all of the other rooms. The layout allows the residents to keep an eye on their small children no matter where in the house they are. Because all the rooms face onto the courtyard, they are flooded with light and fresh air without being exposure to passersby outside.

The concentration of exhibition halls around the Messeplatz (Exhibition Square) is the key entrepreneurial aim of the Messe Basel leadership in its further development. Building the Messe Tower and replacing Hall 1 with a highly modern building and optimum exhibition areas were the first components in this strategy, followed by the continuing construction of new halls.

Parrish Art Museum, in Long Island, New York

The starting point for the new Parrish Art Museum is the artist’s studio in the East End of Long Island. We set the basic parameters for a single gallery space by distilling the studio’s proportions and adopting its simple house section with north-facing skylights. Two of these model galleries form wings around a central circulation spine that is then bracketed by two porches to form the basis of a straightforward building extrusion.

2 Houses & 2 Studios, in France

Located in the peninsula of Quiberon, the project of 4 units set up the conditions for a variable seasonal co-habitation with the proposal of two homes and two adjoining studios to rent one or more entities for one familiy or more. This proposition generates a square of 16m x 16m, a small urbanity to take advantage of private or shared outdoor spaces to stay connected while ensuring their privacy.

Sant Josep Library, in Spain

The library is a detached building within green surroundings splashed with trees that penetrate into the openings of the building. It is a prism box where the interior fragments with planes that flow between the spaces of the layout of the library. Between two fissures, the building opens to the exterior and allows the interior spaces to reach out to the vegetation that surrounds all of the building.

Casa de Mosteirô, in Portugal

The site is located on the outskirts of Santa Maria da Feira, surrounded by a diffuse and changing landscape. The concept of the project comes from the combined interpretation of the functional program of a single-family house with the specific premises of the clients, as from the study of the characteristics of the lot and its surroundings and morphological conditions.
