Tadao Ando signs his books
UIA 2005 Istanbul Organization Committee is pleased to host the UIA 2005 Gold Medal winner Tadao Ando for the booksigning of TADAO ANDO COMPLETE WORKS by TASCHEN.
Congress participants are invited to this memorable event at 15:00-15:30h. at Rumeli Hall (H), stand No.C3 on 6 July 2005.
Boat cruise offered by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality
Participants are welcome to hop on the boat at 19:30 hours on 4 July, departing from Kabataþ quay, not far from the Congress Valley. The cruise is free and so is the buffet! The UIA 2005 Congress organizers are thankful to the host City, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

A complete Istanbul guide for architecture
Architectural Guide to Istanbul, is the result of hard work by a select group of Turkish academicians, directed by the Chamber of Architects of Turkey, Istanbul Metropolitan Branch. The 4 volumes of profound architectural information, including city maps for the 950 buildings studied, will be introduced to everyone in July 2005 under these titles:
1. Historic Peninsula: Buildings of historical and aesthetical value in Historic Peninsula, Eyup-Silahtaraga, Bakirkoy and Yeþilkoy, period until 1930.
2.Galata: Buildings of historical and aesthetical value in Galata, Pera, Taksim-Talimhane, Kurtulus, Sisli, Besiktas, Macka, Nisantasi-Tesvikiye, Dolapdere, Kasimpasa, Haskoy and Sutluce, period until 1930.
3. Bosphorus and The Prince?s Islands: Buildings of historical and aesthetical value in Uskudar, Kadikoy-Bostanci district, Prince?s Islands (Buyukada, Heybeliada, Burgaz and Kinaliada) and Bogazici settlement (Ortakoy-Rumeli Feneri and Uskudar-Anadolu Feneri), period until 1930.
4. Modern and Contemporary: Modern and Contemporary Buildings of historical and aesthetical values located in the areas studied in the first three boks, period after 1930.

There are twelve faculties, 36 departments, 5 institutions, 1 conservatory, 15 research centers and 9 programmes under the dual diploma programmes of ITU-SUNY. ITU?s faculty consists of 800 academic staff and 1,000 teaching staff. It has a housing capacity for 2,960 students. ITU provides more than 6,500 students with scholarships. 21 of engineering programmes have been accredited by ABET, 2 of the programmes of the Maritime Faculty have received approval from IMO, and NAAB has evaluated and approved the Architecture Faculty.
