Visas
Don?t forget to bring along the confirmation of your registration or the official letter provided by the chamber/union of architecture in your country, to benefit from the free visa opportunity offered to the UIA participants!
Arrival
When you arrive at the Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, move along to the passport control counters specially reserved for the UIA participants, where you will present the official participation document. UIA officials will be of help in case you face any problems at this point.
Having passed the passport control, proceed to the UIA welcome desk for directions to reach your appointed destination, your hotel or the Registration Centre, as the case may be.
Registration
The Registration Centre (A) situated at the entry point of the Congress Valley, will be open on 1 July 2005 at 11:00h.

Registration to the Congress is possible between 9:00-18:00h everyday until 7 July 2005.
Registered participants will obtain their badges and the Congress Bag, which includes the books, Programme, Abstracts and Parallel Events & Exhibitions to plan a personal tour of architectural sessions, official UIA events, exhibitions, parties and more.

On Sunday, The Turkish hosts cordially invite the participants and persons accompanying them to attend the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party to be held in Seven Towers Fortress.
A short concert by the TEKFEN PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA composed by musicians from countries around the Eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea and the Caspian Region, will be followed by the opening speeches.
Following the opening ceremony, participants will be invited to the Welcome Party where guests will enjoy the «Cocktails Prolongé» and get acquainted with their fellow Congress Participants.
A cultural musical performance, «Reflections of Colours» by YANSIMALAR enriched with a sound and light show, will be held after the cocktails. The night will continue with dance music performed by «Orient Expressions».
Shuttle services will depart for the Event Venue at 17:00 hours. For the departure points, please check The Transportation Guide.
The return departures to the same points from the Event Venue will start as of 22:30 hours. The last bus will depart at 24:00 hours.

UIA 2005 Istanbul will host the Awards Ceremony at the Open-Air Theatre (T) on 6 July 2005.
The UIA Gold Medal and Prizes are awarded every three years during the Congress of the International Union of Architects. These honorific UIA Prizes were created in 1961 to reward professionals whose merit, talent or actions are of international renown. The prestigious Gold Medal was initiated by the UIA Council in 1984, to honour an architect (or group of architects) distinguishing themselves through their work and professional practice by the quality of services rendered to man and society.
The announced 22 prizes of the Student Competition ?EXTREME? will also be presented to the winners during this attractive event where Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra will perform.
Reduced prices for delegates and accompanying persons will be 40$ US per person including tax. Tickets will be on sale during the Congress at the Tours as well as the Information Desks in ICEC/G, Taþkýsla/B and CRR Concert Hall/M.

The Organization Committee has decided to end this very important gathering of the UIA in a unique spot in Istanbul. Istanbul Archeological Museum which was established as the Ottoman Empire Museum at the end of the 19 th century, will be venue for the Farewell Dinner of the UIA 2005 Congress. Round tables will be prepared for guests to enjoy a full dinner menu with the famous local drink ?raký?, local wines and soft drinks. The venue of the Farewell Dinner will make this evening unforgettable. The Museum will be open to visit during the evening for the benefit of the Farewell Dinner participants.
The city selected for the UIA 2008 Congress, Torino, will contribute to the evening with a musical performance from Italy, which will be followed by a ?changing of the guard? ceremony where the Mayor of Metropolitan Istanbul will hand over the UIA flag to the Mayor of Torino.
While you are there, visit the ?Campo Baeza, Light is more? at Saint Irene Church and ?Art Nouveau (1890-1930) >From Europe to Istanbul? at the Imperial Mint of Topkapi Palace.
The evening will end with live music performed by Turkish jazz & pop star ?Melis Sökmen? and her band for those who wish to dance. Return shuttle services between the Congress Valley and the Museum will be provided for the convenience of the participants.
