Hala Younes is an architect and geographer, graduated from the School of Architecture of Paris la Seine in 1993 and from the Institute of Geography of Paris IV, the Sorbonne, in 1997. In her professional practice as well as in her teaching, Hala Younes takes a close look at the complexity of territories and their histories in order to initiate the design project. The body of work at her architecture Studio, founded in Lebanon in 1995, bears witness to this. Between 2001 and 2009, she taught at the School of Architecture of the City and Territories of Marne la Vallée in Paris, then at several universities in Lebanon, and is currently teaching at the Lebanese American University where she is in charge of Landscape History and a Final Year Studio titled “Off the Walls”. In addition to teaching and professional practice, Hala Younes is committed to producing and disseminating knowledge and awareness tools regarding new urban realities. As such, in 2018, she initiated the first Lebanese National Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennial. In 2019, she received the Middle East Architect Award of the Residential Project of the Year for her Terrace Villa 2 in Chatine Lebanon.
