Our office, founded in 1994 by Helmut Dietrich and Much Untertrifaller, is one of the iconic agencies of the renowned School of Vorarlberg. It is led by Helmut Dietrich, Much Untertrifaller, Dominik Philipp and Patrick Stremler and employs an international team of 90 architects working in Austria (Bregenz and Vienna), Switzerland (St Gallen), France (Paris) and Germany (Munich). We often develop our international projects with the support of local agencies and regional partners. In the past few years we have realized numerous projects in Austria, France, Germany and Switzerland and we will further strenghten our international presence.
Always carefully and at the same time confidently, we create our architecture from its respective context – restrained in style with spatial sophistication and demonstrating a finely nuanced materiality. The entire spectrum ranging from large-scale buildings and urban structures through alterations of existing buildings to single-family homes defies specialization, constantly challenges and inspires creativity and an inquiring mind.
Flashy architecture in the formal sense is not our style, but rather exciting architecture is, which we always develop from the relationship to the respective place and its environment and the required program. A decisive factor in all our work is the resource-saving and appropriate use of materials and structures, with a particular interest in and commitment to contemporary timber construction. We are well known for our expertise in timber design and construction and maintain this knowhow through relationships of dialogue and trust with clients, craftsmen and engineers. In course of lectures and in teaching we are glad to share our knowledge.
Our innovative and sustainable buildings received numerous awards, including the Prix National de la Construction Bois 2017 (Sports Center Alice Milliat Lyon) and the State Award for Architecture and Sustainability 2017 (Elementary School Edlach, Dornbirn).
