Dirk De Meyer obtained a Master Degree in Architecture at KU Leuven – Faculty of Architecture Campus Sint-Lucas Ghent in 1993 (B) and studied at the Royal Academy in Kopenhagen (DK) in 1992 and 1994.
He gained first experience in the studio of Achiel Hutsebaut and in 1995 he started his own practice ‘DDM.architectuur’ in Belgium, followed in 2003 by a branch in Shanghai that moved to Chongqing in 2012.
In 2006 he founded ‘BATarchitectuur’, a multi-disciplinary design team working on projects in Asia.
The strength of the studio lies in its capacity to control the complete process from first sketch to the last detail. This approach guarantees the highest quality in design and construction coordination for the most demanding private, public and corporate clients.
This is achieved by meticulous technical detailing combined with a relentless effort for quantity and quality control throughout the whole process.
Since 2014 Dirk De Meyer is a guest-professor at the architecture faculty of Zhengzhou University. Besides that he has lectured and has been a guest critic for competitions and studios in various universities and cities in China and Belgium.
His personal focus is on the planning, design and construction of private as well as public buildings. The team also works as a local partner for foreign architects with projects in Belgium.
Projects of the team have received national and international awards and are featured in various books and magazines and are widely published online.
