University Weihenstephan, in Triesdorf
The scheme of the extension is relating to the urban context and its agricultural surrounding.
The faculties of agriculture and environmental protection of the University Weihenstephan are located in Triesdorf. The existing university building from 2007 was extended and developed to a new homogeneous ensemble. The extension is arranged in two separated buildings: The new administration building as solitary volume north of the main campus link and the lecture hall and laboratory building as extension to the existing building. This part creates an external courtyard with the existing volume as centre of the new arrangement.
The Façade is designed with window strips and differently coloured timber louvers. In the area of the window strips, the louvers are toned down in order to keep the strips visible even in front of closed parts. Windowsills made of aluminium underline the strips all around the building and form a contrast to the dark plaster surfaces which mark the entrances.
