Ozgol Residential Apartment
Hosseini Building is a three storey private residence consisting of a duplex, a flat, as well as an underground space. Considering the limited site area the “Three Part Division” method from the Persian Architecture was used to form the volumetric mass of the project.
Units are accessible through a continuous vertical void which also provides natural lighting for the entrances. There is a double height open space in the duplex unit which is open to the sky and could be closed in winter.
Considering the limited unit areas it was important to optimize the available spaces. Therefore, sliding walls were used to form transformable open and closed spaces with variable functions in summer and winter.
Inspired by the Persian Architecture, glazed bricks were used as the main material for this project. The intention here was to design in harmony with the Iranian vernacular architecture but in a new form. The outcome was a combination of solid and semi-transparent brick patterns as well as glass openings forming the facade of the building. The semi-transparent patterns were formed in areas which require less light exposure.
