New Vila Mirje
Continuity, Change, and Contemporary Living
The renovation of Vila Mirje in Ljubljana reinterprets a 1920s bourgeois villa within its layered historical and urban context. Originally built by engineer Miroslav Kasal and marked by freemason symbolism and Gaspari’s frescoes, the house preserves traces of its turbulent past while opening toward contemporary life. Through careful restoration, new garden pavilions, and minimalist interior interventions, the project creates a dialogue between heritage and modern living. The villa becomes both a witness of history and a framework for evolving ways of inhabitation in the 21st century.
