Going Down the Rabbit Hole

Once roamed a weary traveler into the deep woods, moving about as if he were in a stupor

Suddenly…

*PLOP*

He found himself in a land so strange.

Oh, so familiar, but yet not.

The hole is symbolic of the threshold we often find ourselves at, needing an escape. While we slowly fall down the temptations of lucid daydreaming. It is an in-between space, open to interpretation. It weaves together I’mXAdot’s own dreams and projects into an immersive scene of undulating forms, quirky patterns and vibrant colors.

The installation is an interpretive collage of I’mXAdot’s recent projects – with the ‘Nosy Owl’ perched in a geometric forest (‘scapes), having a whimsical view port (Exploring Voids) into the world outside. Inspired by their projects, every element has an individualistic existence.

Started during Covid-19, I’mXAdot is an exploration of who they are, what really matters and how to navigate an imposed sense of disconnect, via the lens of design and storytelling.

Humans are inherently intuitive and playful. But somewhere down the road, we got so entangled in societal roles that we stopped connecting with our childlike wonder. Rather, we were encouraged to define our limits, boxing us into locks and chains with a dampened spirit.

True freedom comes from a sense of fulfillment in fully being who we are. It creates a safe space for every individual to explore their edges and define their own unique reality. We are all sensorial beings. All we desire is to create and marvel – to indulge, to immerse, to feel and to love.

Exploration requires curiosity. I’mXAdot believes in the power of imagination and a free mind to rewrite our stories. We just need the right tools to cultivate the capacity to own our narratives. Creative self-expression paves the path to a wholesome future.

I’mXAdot’s work combines art, design, storytelling, branding, and spatial design, into open to interpretation, dreamlike sequences. They want to challenge the limit of inter-disciplinary work and channel not only their imagination, but also that of the viewer to create a truly dynamic piece of work. There is no right or wrong way to experience their work. It is all about following your own joy.

Their work breaks down complex ideas and visuals into the very fundamentals of forms, patterns, textures and colors, put back together in a visceral way. It enables the viewer to instinctively absorb the design, allowing them to plunge deeper into their own imagination rather than adhering to a norm. It speaks to the child within the viewer, adding a quirky flair to their experiences.

It is a meditative process, bringing one back to themselves. With all inhibitions, definitions and limitations removed, one is free to frame their experience through their own feeling sensations. It is a portal into one’s innate sense of creativity, setting us free from all norms and encouraging our uniqueness to shine through.
