CR Apartment

Measuring 190 m², the new home of a couple and their two children in São Paulo features an open-plan social area that blends textures, shapes, and a cozy atmosphere

São Paulo, 2025 – With a contemporary style and a touch of rustic charm, the CR apartment in São Paulo’s Perdizes neighborhood is home to a family of four. Designed by Zalc Arquitetura, the 190 m² space reflects the clients’ desire for a timeless and welcoming home with the warmth of a countryside retreat.

The couple’s individual preferences shaped the design, leading to some structural changes. A food lover, the husband wanted a gourmet kitchen connected to the social area, while the wife dreamed of a spacious walk-in closet.

To make this vision a reality, the entrance hall, bar, kitchen, living, dining, and lounge areas were all combined into a single open layout. From the front door, the entire social area is visible—bright, airy, and flowing like a grand hall. Meanwhile, the former service bedroom and bathroom were removed to expand the suite and make room for the closet.

In the kitchen, a large island with stools invites guests to gather and makes entertaining easy. Nearby are a custom-designed sofa and dining table by Rafael Zalc, the studio’s lead architect. The standout Miçangas table, made from carefully aligned solid wood spheres with a translucent glass top, blends artisanal craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. The colorful sofa adds a vibrant accent to the otherwise neutral palette.

Natural wood finishes and landscaping elements—including a jabuticaba tree—reinforce the home’s countryside vibe. The carved wood panels in the entrance hall add texture and help create this warm, organic feel.

Even the flooring in the social areas reflects personalization: pieces of marble and terrazzo from different sources were cut into organic shapes that contrast with the apartment’s clean architectural lines.

Cozy yet contemporary, the CR apartment is the result of a close and creative collaboration between the clients and the studio—featuring custom-designed furniture and unique spaces that bring the family’s vision to life.
