Japanese dinning “Moriya”, in Korea
Japanese dinning ‘Moriya’ is in Jeongjadong in Korea, and it's the first realized project of London based design group ‘Design Guild’. The restaurant is located at one of the hottest places in Bundang, which is Jeongjadong.
This area has more than 50 cafés and restaurants on the groundfloor. But, Moriya is planned at the second floor of relatively old building which is at the outskirt of this area.. Since the most of the café and restaurants are occupying the groundfloor, ground floor ceiling height of most of buildings in Jeongjadong is higher than 4.5m. That makes the ceiling of first floor the most dominant feature of building to the pedestrians. Design aims to attract people with outstanding ceiling pattern to compete with other café and restaurant. Razor cut plywood is simply installed on steel beams which are pre-installed on a ceiling making people to feel that they are under the sea or inside of whale’s stomach.
700mm radius Fan is performing as a partition between tables. And the white gravels reflect the light from the bottom of table.
