Dynamic Pedestrian Bridge
This project was as a response to an open competition for a pedestrian bridge in Tehran, connecting a public amenity space to a residential neighborhood.
The brief required us to come up with innovative ideas in regards connecting the bridge across a 21m drop. Our proposal really dealt with this drop by combining the vertical movement of an elevator with the horizontal movement of the bridge. The bridge is an extension to the public realm allowing a platform to extend out over the motorway reconnecting users to city and bypassing what would be considered an inferior view over 6 lanes of traffic.
In combing the movements the entire bridge becomes a dynamic extension of the park and a feature within the city, it turns the bridge from just another pedestrian bridge into a destination to be visited, with beautiful view across the city the bridge makes the most of a very challenging brief.
