Founded in 1996 by Francesco Fresa, Germán Fuenmayor, Gino Garbellini and Monica Tricario, Piuarch means openness: the ability to incorporate different viewpoints and approaches in one single project, creating a network further enhanced by technical and cultural contributions from professionals and consultants from different field. The firm – located in a very distinctive courtyard in Milan’s Brera district, is made up of about 40 architects and engineers from all over the world. A collective that creates architecture, landscapes, interiors and brand design for clients like Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci, Givenchy with an highlight on sustainability and innovative solutions. In over twenty years of activity, Piuarch has tackled a wide range of different design themes on different scales, showing a very special awareness of the interaction between architecture and context, relationship with art and attention to detail, the use of natural materials and a focus on energy-saving.
The winner of “Italian Architect of the Year 2013” prize and of two Gold Medals at the Milan Triennale, and an exhibitor several times at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, Piuarch has always looked to the international scene, with completed projects in Russia, China, France and United States.
Piuarch has won first prize in numerous competitions down the years: the new Riva del Garda Congress Centre (2007), the Porta Nuova Building in Milan (2006); the new Gazprom Headquarters in St Petersburg (2006); the IDF Habitat Headquarters in Champigny-sur-Marne, near Paris (2013) and the construction of a multifunctional complex for Fendi in Tuscany (2017).
