Sabrina and Guto’s House

Located in Vila Ida, near Alto de Pinheiros, in São Paulo, Brazil, Sabrina and Guto's house underwent a complete makeover to adapt to their contemporary lifestyle. Situated on a 500 m² plot, the single-storey home kept its original structure, preserving elements that the owners appreciated, while receiving an extensive renovation to integrate rooms and enhance the outdoor areas.

The project is divided into two main sectors: the social area, comprising the dining room, kitchen and living room, which occupies an open and continuous layout, and the bedroom sector, which houses three suites, facing inwards and connected to a hall and an outbuilding. This configuration gives the bedrooms privacy and optimizes circulation, as well as providing a fluid connection between the internal spaces and the garden that surrounds the house.

One of the main interventions was the expansion of the house towards the back, using a concrete volume that integrates the bathroom, the dressing room of the suites and the gourmet area. This structure is designed as a back panel for the swimming pool, with a wooden deck and space for outdoor relaxation. The outdoor area has been completely renovated, including the creation of a patio that connects the kitchen and barbecue to the leisure area, where an exclusive panel by Brazilian artist Calu Fontes adorns the pool, adding an artistic touch to the space.

The landscaping was essential to the atmosphere of the project, offering a natural and welcoming aesthetic, with the use of materials such as sandstone and demolition bricks, which dialogue with the earthy tones of the house. In the dining room and bedrooms, the demolition wood flooring brings a feeling of warmth and comfort, reinforcing the home’s welcoming style.

To meet the need to integrate the rooms, the renovation included removing the slab in the social area, revealing roofs with exposed shears and a sloping ceiling, increasing the feeling of space and light. In addition, the kitchen was modernized and an exposed concrete annex was built to house the barbecue, integrating the family’s moments of conviviality into the day-to-day life of the house.
