Residential Project: Bucareste

In what was her second intervention in this contemporary home, with an approximate size of 750 sqm and located in the Jardim Europa neighborhood, in the city of São Paulo, the architect Fernanda Marques yet again bet in two essential components of the original project: the emphasis in gardens and the visual transparency between interior and exterior sceneries.

The home has an airy feel, is well lit and sophisticated – a house well thought-out in all its’ details to be truly enjoyed through the annual seasons during which the couple and their two young children spend in the city – the family lives in London. “They usually receive many guests when they’re in town, but without giving up moments as a family”, comments the architect, who strived to create a project that fell in perfectly between these two priorities.

“The distribution in two floors allowed us to completely sectorize the operation of the house. The upper floor is dedicated to the more private areas (the suites), and the lower floor is where social activities take place, concentrating all services and leisure spaces, such as a one-lane swimming pool. “It is a very restful home, and yet always prepared for a party”, says Fernanda.

There are four suites in total, one living room, a home-theater, fitness area, services facilities area and a vast green area, filled with tropical plants, which was just expanded with the incorporation of an adjacent property. Recently acquired by the owner, the property has already been transformed in a garden by the renowned landscape architect, Alex Hanazaki.

Also worth mentioning, the transparency between the internal and external spaces received an extra touch: the doorframes of the living room were replaced with more delicate pieces, brought in from Germany, and the glass panes that cover almost the entirety of the internal façade of the house, were slightly expanded.

Aligned with the minimalist style of the décor, the integration is also present in the internal spaces, where hinged doors guarantee complete fluidity between the sceneries, and the light-colored coatings enhance the lighting conditions.

An international mix may be observed in the furniture: contemporary Italian design pieces, with straight lines and well-defined shapes, overcome the décor of the living room and home-theatre, while the dining room makes way for a more Brazilian touch. Natural, almost rustic materials take over the dining hall, made perfect, above all, by a dining table exclusively drawn for this project by the Brazilian brothers, Fernando and Humberto Campana.
