REKA, common spaces interiors

The communal interiors of the Reka club-style residential building, created by the designers of VSA.studio in collaboration with architect Pavel Andreev and the GRAN architectural bureau, present a refined balance between modern comfort and the natural environment.

The interior project encompasses the lobby area, first-floor galleries, elevator lobbies, typical corridors, a playroom, and restrooms. At its core lies the principle of integration with the surrounding landscape. Panoramic glazing dissolves the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, drawing the riverfront scenery into the heart of the building. The lobby and its adjoining galleries are conceived as an extension of the street, while elevator lobbies and residential corridors are treated as secluded, intimate spaces, set apart from the urban flow.

The design unfolds through two thematic directions: a light “wood” theme — evoking nature, the river, and raw materials such as stone and timber — and a contrasting dark theme. This visual polarity marks a clear distinction between open and intimate, public and private. Gentle floor lines recall the shoreline and water’s edge, while soft, rounded shapes reference pebbles and weathered rocks. Dark ceilings punctuated with star-like spotlights evoke shimmering sun on water by day and a starlit sky by night.

Nature permeates the details: concrete planters in the galleries, greenery integrated into the design of mailboxes and the reception screen, and rounded decorative ceiling elements resembling clouds or leaves. These sculptural forms not only contribute to the artistic composition of the ceiling but also serve as lighting fixtures.

The materials are chosen for their natural look and tactile authenticity, while fully meeting fire safety standards. The primary finish is porcelain stoneware in various patterns and formats: fine-grained, concrete-textured tiles on the floor; large-format wood-effect tiles on the walls, paired with porcelain imitating carved wooden panels. The choice of porcelain stoneware stems from its exceptional resistance to wear, its durability under heavy loads, and the ability to restore or replace individual tiles when needed.

Another signature element throughout the space is ribbed fiber-concrete panels with triangular cross-section slats. Like porcelain stoneware, this material meets the highest operational and fire-resistance requirements — ensuring the design is as practical as it is timeless.
