Amulette Art
Amulette Art, designed by Bernhardt & Vella in 2019, is a perfect blend of timeless design and technological innovation.
Their aim with Amulette Art was to explore and study the particular effects produced by LED light when it passes through the thickness of a slim, polished plate of glass. The result is a lamp that has a strong visual presence but is also very understated and elegant that gives a diffused light which is most effective in refined settings, perhaps where there is an Art Deco feel.
This lamp owes its success to the female duo Ellen Bernhardt, a German designer, and Paola Vella, an Italian interior designer, who jointly founded Bernhardt & Vella in Milan in 2008.
Their style is evident in Amulette Art, which they describe in their own words: “Its reassuring and discreet elegance is the keyword for many of our creations… we have translated this into a purity, a balance of lines and shapes, a lightness and airiness. It probably expresses our more feminine side as a gentle, soft, yet contemporary and pragmatic design.” — Bernhardt & Vella
They begin by carrying out research as a form of exploration, taking their inspiration from the world of art, from past masters of design, and from architecture. From there they create their style – a style that is recognisable, yet always personal.
The plate is set in metal like a precious stone, a lucky charm. Its perfect and sharp geometry, combined with its compact size, underlines the exquisite finish of the engraved surfaces and the expressive power of metal.
The collection has as indoor suspension lamp and a wall lamp. The diffuser is made of ribbed glass with satin edges with a galvanized metal frame in glossy gold or black. Power supply – mains voltage for LEDs.
