LA-based studio Optimist Design’s work balances between an intersection of art, new technology and architecture resulting in a complex sensory experience. By orchestrating spaces that move seamlessly between the physical and virtual, their work evokes an emotional response that reaches far beyond the purely architectural dimension of space.

Optimist Design chooses a journey of experimenting and discovering rather than yielding to fixed form, allowing the team to evolve spaces to a new dimension. The studio approaches design for retail, interiors or events as intuitive, interactive and immersive experiences. Constantly pushing the creative boundaries, Optimist Design has attracted forward-thinking Clients including Nike, Google, Facebook, Red Bull, Porsche, BMW, Sony and Warner Brothers as well as music artists such as Daft Punk, James Blake and Kanye West.

Optimist Design is led by Berlin native, Tino Schaedler who unites his diverse skill-set as an architect, art director, production designer and digital artist placing him in the arena of ‘post digital artists’. The award-winning designer’s background in film and set design involved leading on productions ranging from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ to ‘Harry Potter’. Schaedler’s understanding of film brings a cinematic sensitivity to Optimist’s projects by fusing cutting edge technology aspects of storytelling – where spatial designs are sequential, time-based and choreographed – to create phenomenal layered experiences.
