MMBB Architects came about in 1991 as a result of the association of the architects Fernando de Mello Franco, Marta Moreira and Milton Braga. Currently the partners are Marta, Milton and Maria João Figueiredo, consolidating a comprehensive professional performance, which has stood out by the development of public and institutional designs in the area of building, infrastructure and urbanism.
The concern with a critical and analytical posture has led MMBB architects to extend their activities to the cultural and academic sphere. Not only do the associates carry out a parallel production in the way of participation and/or organization of cultural events, exhibitions, biennials but also develop an academic activity encompassing teaching and research.
MMBB won several distinctions for its projects, as the prizes in the IX Ibero American Architecture and Urbanism Biennale in Rosario (2014) and the urbanity prize of the São Paulo Art Critics Association (2013), both with the Jardim Edite social housing complex; or the Best Entry prize with the Watery Voids proposal in the 3rd International Architecture Biennale of Rotterdam (2007); besides prizes in several editions of the International Architecture Biennale of São Paulo and awards of the Institute of Architects of Brazil.
