San Martín de Tours housing complex
This housing complex has been developed according to a form of inhabitation, linked to a sense of place. It is located in the border of Palermo Chico residential neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, beside a linear park that goes along the train railways, close to the city riverside.
The plot gets thinner on its side towards the neighbourhood, where the main entrance is located; and is much wider on the opposite side, in front of a shopping centre.
The houses are organized in a linear pattern following the length of the site, separated from the neighbour’s sidewall by an internal pedestrian passage, with variations on both extremes: collecting the common programs close to the access, and rotating the orientation of the units close to Salguero Street, looking for shelter from the noise and the less-stimulating views.
Interiors are formed like unified spaces, with a block of services configured to make place for different forms of occupation and connection towards terraces and gardens.
The units try to recreate domestic situations: porches, patios, different terraces, fireplaces, flat balconies as privacy and sunshine filters, some double heights; always adjusting their variation according to their position on the site and the programming diversity required by the developer: all of them different and at the same time melted into a consistent unity.
