Brooklyn Children’s Museum Expansion Named 2008 Project of the Year by the Society
Rafael Viñoly Architects' expansion of the Brooklyn Children's Museum is the recipient of the 2008 Project of the Year Award from the Society of American Registered Architects/New York Council. The honor will be conferred tonight at the organization's awards banquet at Battery Gardens in Manhattan.
For the past fourteen years, SARA-NY has bestowed its Professional Design Awards upon individuals and organizations that make outstanding contributions to the city’s public realm. The Project of the Year Award is the group’s top honor, recognizing constructed, commissioned projects that are nearly complete.
Rafael Viñoly Architects’ Project Director for the building is David Rolland, who is also directing the firm’s Cleveland Museum of Art and Carrasco International Airport (Montevideo, Uruguay) initiatives. The museum, the world’s first children’s museum, is scheduled to re-open in September.
